Obama the day after 'The Day'

by BD Pisani ♦ 12 sep 2010

Obama's America features unemployment at 9.6 percent, underemployment at 16.7 percent, millions of homes foreclosed, millions more heading to foreclosure, the middle class under assault -- and a vapid, out-of-touch president.

Mass Murder On September 11

Yesterday, a vast throng of Net mavens recollected and reflected upon their thoughts, fears, and anguish from nine years ago. In one form or another, the multiple horrors that occurred on that bright, sunshiny morning of September 11, 2001 were keenly in focus. Rightly so, for we must always remember that the murderous intent of evildoers is no less threatening today than it was then.

However, there was one rather prominent observer whose remembrance message was disconnected from the somberness of the occasion and worse, completely out of touch with the culture and character of the American people.

While attending a 9-11 ninth anniversary ceremony at the Pentagon honoring the 184 who died when the building was hit by a hijacked plane, Obama's speech did nothing but illustrate an eerie detachment from reality. This man is supposed to be the president, for crying in the sink - not some street fixer or community schmoozer. There was very little in the way of reproach for the butchers and their belief who murdered thousands. No, instead Obama condescendingly instructed the American people to essentially get over the most vile attack against us in our history and not allow it to cloud our "tolerance."

Forget about it - nothing important hear - move along.

Obama dispassionately lectured that "It was not a religion that attacked us that September day - it was al-Qaeda, a sorry band of men which perverts religion."

What rubbish.

It most certainly was a religion that attacked us and is continuing to war with us: Fundamentalist Islam. Each and every twisted jihadi who butchers and murders innocent men, women, and children does so because of religious beliefs. Islamic beliefs.

Obama polluted the 9-11 remembrance by adding, "That is why we mark September 11th as a National Day of Service and Remembrance ... bound not only by grief, but by a set of common ideals. And that by giving back to our communities, by serving people in need, we reaffirm our ideals." Mr. Obama, the 9-11 Anniversary is not and shall never be a "day of service."

The 9-11 Anniversary is a day of National Remembrance and Mourning.

Do you want a special day of service? Pick any date but September 11, then mobilize ACORN and your fellow community activists to help the millions of true Americans who selflessly volunteer their time, services, wealth, and energies for the needy in our communities 365 days per year.

There is no doubt in the mind of this author that Obama is completely out of touch with the soul of the American people. Whether his lack stems from being raised elsewhere, a focused education alien to Americana, or decades-long mentoring steeped in anti-American dogma, only he, a few intimates, and his handlers know.

Nevertheless, there were two Americans who spoke appropriately and eloquently on a most melancholy day. In Shanksville, Pennsylvania, former First Lady Laura Bush marked the ninth anniversary with somber words atop a windswept hillside overlooking the crash site of United Airlines Flight 93:

"Nine years ago, in the skies above this field and in Washington and in New York City, we saw the worst of our enemy and the best of our nation. We saw that there is evil in the world but good at the heart of our country. America was attacked, but the deepest belief of our democracy was vindicated."

On Saturday, former President George W. Bush released this statement on the ninth anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks:

"On September 11, 2001, Americans awoke to evil on our shores. On this solemn day of remembrance, Laura and I hold the victims and their families in our thoughts and prayers. We recall the many acts of heroism on that day, and we honor those who work tirelessly to prevent another attack. May God bless our great country and those who defend her."

No equivocation. No placating. No obfuscation. Obama should be ashamed that it took the words of a former President - a man he ridicules to this day - and First Lady to connect with the hearts and souls of the American people. But to experience shame, you must first be wise and then utilize that wisdom to understand your failings.

Obama will never feel shame.

Hype and Chains for 50 more days.
