The great divide

by BD Pisani ♦ 01 aug 2010

The American people are generally decent, moral, and fair. They trust, therefore they sometimes have difficulty detecting lies. When they eventually do, however -- and they always do -- their demand for accountability and capacity for retribution are unyielding.

The Great Divider

It is now widely accepted throughout the huge land mass of America progressives disdainfully refer to as "flyover country" that Obama won an election in which he was portrayed by his handlers as a unifier who lived by a bipartisan credo. Yet his real persona was known to the scribbling class long before November.

State-run media knew his staged performances, moderate agenda, and scripted elocution to be false and yet did everything in its power to conceal the truth from America. No lie was too small, no omission too great, no distortion too trivial. They expended considerable effort and all credibility in their self-serving whitewash of reality. They were wildly successful.

This invaluable engagement was willingly and obediently performed -- after all, Obama reflected their own radically liberal mindset -- while they set upon any of his opponents as would a slavering wolf pack, savagely mutilating reputations and innocent family members. Nothing was sacred, no one -- not even a special-needs infant -- was spared.

Throughout this disgraceful charade, an inherently trusting, decent, and unfortunately gullible Middle America believed the spin and either ignored or were not aware of the darker realities that were slowly surfacing from alternative news sources.

The nation and the American people must now bear the burden of an enigmatic poseur in the White House, presiding over a regime bearing little resemblance to its campaign rhetoric. Much of the gullibility, however, has been blessedly bludgeoned out of them.

Likewise, today's Democrat Congress is a corrupt, delusional canker, a fetid daily reminder that since 2006, the Congress of Reid and Pelosi -- "The most honest, most open, and most ethical Congress in history" -- is anything but. The Obama regime and Democrat Congress exemplify the reason for words of warning by Founder and President John Adams: "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."

Indeed. Founder Adams was absolutely correct. Our liberties depend on our preserving the integrity of the Constitution and the mechanisms it established to thwart despotism. As we have witnessed time and again since 2006, those safeguards have been and continue to be systematically weakened, ignored, or dismantled by an amoral ruling class that has rendered sacred oaths of office into nothing more than smug mockeries.

Rather than being the unifier he falsely proclaimed he would be, Obama and his regime cohort have purposely divided America on the basis of ideology, class, and most abhorrent of all, race. To strengthen an already vice-like grasp on political power, control of the nation's wealth, and oversight of citizens' lives from birth to death, the regime has weakened the nation's sovereignty, subverted our energy and cohesiveness as a people, and marginalized the constitutional rule of law.

Those sacred oaths of honor? Come back to these when the next congressional corruption scandal breaks or the regime flaunts constitutional authority:

President of the United States of America:
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Senators and Representatives of Congress:
"I, ____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God."
