Slaughtering ObamaCare
It's sunk to this -- Democrat Louise Slaughter's shameful scheme to cram the Senate version of ObamaCare through the House without actually recording a vote on the bill:
"Get ready for the the mother of all shady political maneuvers. In a desperate, last-gasp bid to force government-run health care rationing on the American people, the Democrat House of Representatives will now employ an incredibly convoluted and possibly unconstitutional process.
Hmm. Let's analyze the situation...By an overwhelming three to one margin, the American people don't want it; Pelosi doesn't have the votes to force it; but Obama is demanding that it be railroaded through the Democrat Congress. What can we do? Eureka!...Let's invent an illegal scheme to completely circumvent a House vote on the Senate-approved ObamaCare fiasco!
According to the National Journal's Congress Daily:
"Democrat House Rules Chairwoman Louise Slaughter is prepping to help usher the health care overhaul through the House and potentially avoid a direct vote on the Senate overhaul bill, the chairwoman said Tuesday. Slaughter is weighing preparing a rule that would consider the Senate bill passed once the House approves a corrections bill that would make changes to the Senate version."
Ahem. You know it takes a truly devious mind to come up with something this twisted.
The scheme
The regime's Ruling Troika -- Obama, Pelosi, and Reid -- have been planning to enact ObamaCare through the disingenuous path of budget reconciliation -- a ploy to allow the Senate to "pass" final approval with just 51 votes. However, to use reconciliation, Pelosi must first get House members to vote for the exact bill the Senate passed in December.
But Pelosi currently doesn't have the votes to do so, and it seems more unlikely each day that she can twist enough arms to get them. Enter Louise Slaughter.
In what is now being called "The Slaughter Solution," the rule would declare that the House "deems" the Senate version of ObamaCare to have been passed by the House. House members would still have to vote on whether to accept the rule, but they would then be able to say they only voted for a rule, not for the bill itself.
There are many other intricate maneuvers involved in the scheme, but it is doable.
The sellout
Deceitfully clever, eh? Yes. Deceitful, clever, unethical, despicable -- and unconstitutional. Nowhere in the Constitution of the United States of America does it even imply that Congress can "deem" a bill to have passed.
Democrat House members are being told that they must vote for the Senate bill as a procedural step. Once they do, however, ObamaCare is only a presidential signature away from becoming law. This is very bad news for House Democrats, because they will have also inadvertently approved the Senate's Cornhusker Kickback, Louisiana Purchase, death panels, $500 billion in cuts to Medicare, "Cadillac" tax, abortion coverage, and all of ObamaCare's other egregious provisions.
And what will Democrat House members say in their defense? Gee, Mr. and Mrs. Voter, I didn't realize all those things were in ObamaCare? Good luck with that. We'll take care of those spineless toadies in November, but the damage will have been done.
The shame
What is the Democrat Party doing? Certainly, its members are not listening to the people of this country. The vast majority of Americans do not want ObamaCare or any other version of government-run health care rationing. We cannot afford it and we don't want the finest health care system on the planet degraded down to Canadian, European, or Third World levels.
We as a people must demand of Obama and the Democrat Congress: Have you no sense of honor, no commitment to your sacred constitutional oaths? Do you covet authoritarian control over the very lives of the American People so much that you would stoop to such craven tactics?
Obama and the Democrat Congress disgrace this great nation -- but I repeat myself.
Hype and Chains.
