Health mandate means health tax
OK, try to forget that at the UN on Wednesday, Obama belittled and humiliated the United States to the delight of Castro, Chavez, Ahmedinejad, Gaddafi, and their despotic chums.
Forget that he also repeatedly snubbed Great Britain's Prime Minister Gordon Brown, our staunchest ally. Forget even that Obama as good as labeled Israel illegitimate while embracing the legitimacy of Iran's dodgey regime.
We can't do anything about the Embarrassment in Chief until 2012, but we can do something about the bald-faced lies he, his lackeys, and state-run media repeatedly foist upon us.
They need the mandate to control all
While everyone is concentrating on a health care "public option," there is something far more insidious lurking beneath the thousand-page murk of HR 3200: Mandated Health Care.
And before continuing, let's knock off this "public option" crap, shall we? Those two words are nothing more"Without a government-run option there can be no mandate -- but without a mandate most Americans will not choose the government-run option." than obfuscating LeftSpeak for "government-run."
Try to follow this because it is important to understanding the rest (sorry, your comprehension is not in question; the Left purposely makes everything nebulous to hide their real intent).
In the Democrat Government-run Health Care Rationing scheme, the government-run option is but a necessary component in a system in which everyone is forced to purchase health insurance (the mandate). The government-run option is delightfully portrayed as a low-cost alternative for we poor, unwashed, ignorant clods who cannot afford private insurance under the enforced mandate.
Without a government-run option there can be no mandate -- but without a mandate polls show that most Americans will not choose the government-run option.
To Obama and the Democrat Congress, it doesn't matter that their mandate coupled with the government-run option will destroy the private health care insurance system -- they will not be able to compete against Big Government subsidies undercutting their prices. All that matters is that they take control of another one-sixth of the United States economy.
And completely eliminate our alternatives or freedom of choice.
No matter the spin, the mandate means tax
The mandate that every individual carry health insurance (and ultimately that will be Government-run Health Care Rationing insurance) or be punitively taxed is a despicable means to a despicable end.
It was not too many generations ago when Americans waged war over such taxes; Americans will be unjustly taxed on their failure to participate in a forced government socio-economic scheme.
Professor of Law William A. Jacobson, Cornell University Law School, offers this:
"Do we want to empower the government to use its taxing powers to force people to take action? If the right to be left alone is a foundation of our liberty, are we willing to jettison that foundation? If taxation is the means to achieving a health care mandate, are we prepared to have the IRS play the role of health care enforcer?
There is no current equivalent. While many states impose mandatory auto insurance requirements in order to drive, individuals have the alternative of not driving. With the health care mandate there is no alternative. If you exist, you either obtain 'acceptable' health insurance coverage or you are taxed."
It will be interesting to see if anyone in Washington has the grit, the courage to resist this vile scheme. Are there no honorable Democrats left to us? Are they all radically mad? Have they all foresworn their constitutional oaths of office?
Only one option will remain
The government-run option is a necessity, a valuable cog, to make the Democrat mandate scheme mesh. Once the government defines acceptable insurance to include so many benefits as to raise the cost prohibitively -- and they will -- many Americans will not be able to afford private insurance.
As more and more employers choose taxation instead of coverage for employees, and as the ranks of those facing individual taxation rise, more and more people will be forced into the government-run option. The government-run option, heavily subsidized by government capital, will ultimately kill off the private insurance industry which cannot fairly compete.
Obama and the Democrat Congress are now the self-appointed rulers of America rather than elected representatives of the People. They ignore the concerns of the vast majority of Americans. They control the treasury and finance industry. They mandate whatever legislation they so desire, and without opposition. Unaccountable czars now openly manage the nation.
And somewhere within all of those fascist layers they have manipulated the rules so that private sector insurers must fail. Which leaves the American citizen with no other option but Government-run Health Care Rationing.
Get ready to bend a knee to the IRS, your health care enforcer.
