Clunker tyranny is still tyranny

Once we heard: "Perhaps you and I have lived with this miracle too long to be properly appreciative. Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction."

"It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation,The Great One, Ronald Reagan for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again."

Expressions extolling love of country, reverence for freedom, and care for its future. Words of a uniter, a true American, a true leader. Beliefs we shall not hear uttered again any time soon.

Thus the greatest president of our time, then-Governor Ronald Wilson Reagan, cautioned his fellow Americans about the abridgement of liberty under an authoritarian government.

Something dark this way comes...

In stark contrast, we are now contending with a government that rules rather than leads, commands rather than listens, and whose perfumed princes and princesses live far above the stringently-enforced mediocrity with which they decree we abide.

We have 35 political czars working directly for the president who were exempted from congressional vetting -- accountable to no one but the Executive Office -- who routinely usurp the authority of America's duly approved Cabinet positions.

We have the Department of Homeland Security conducting domestic espionage on a lengthy list of American citizens the DHS deems "potential extreme terrorists." Their crimes? Being honorably-discharged U.S. military veterans, opposing illegal immigration, opposing tax dollars1984 paying for the slaughter of babies, and opposing the socialization of America (Tracking software shows that the DHS routinely monitors The B2J).

...And is now here

We have an authoritarian White House compiling an illegal Enemies List, a list of those whose opinions differ from Obama's. A White House special online bulletin urged radical groups and unions to snitch on opponents of Government-run Health Care Rationing by emailing opponents' personal information to flag--at--whitehouse--dot--gov.

We have elitist congressional members charging their own law-abiding constituents with conspiracy, calling them fascists, and locking them out of public meetings.

We have physical attacks by union thugs on peaceful dissenters of the socialist schemes being forced on us by Obama and the Democrat Congress -- condoned by the highest government official in the land.

We have post-racial Attorney General Eric Holder, subjectively dismissing the New Black Panther Party's obvious voter-intimidation case, and post-racial Obama demeaning his office by meddling in trivial Cambridge, Massachusetts, police business to further racial divide.

We have a goose-stepping, coordinated State-run Media -- electronic, print, and entertainment -- that serves as a propaganda ministry for its masters and attack dog against any in opposition.

We now have the reality that if Americans resist statist subjugation, if we speak out, we will at first be ignored, then dismissed as inconsequential, then ridiculed, then demonized, then threatened, then attacked.

This is the hype and chains you swallowed -- with more coming.

Tyrannical ambitions

Make no mistake. Tyrannical is not too harsh a word for the road down which Obama and the Democrat Congress are forcing America. There is real danger here for American liberty.

Be mindful of the fact that every scheme and every decree we have witnessed and suffered under since January 2009 has been conceived in secret and behind closed doors.

It is only now, as masses of once-trusting and once-gullible citizens converge on town meetings all over the country, can we begin to see the dire consequences due to our complacency.

TARP, banking, auto makers, union deals, stimulus, cap-and-trade, health care, tax increases -- everyAmerica under seige one of these schemes was crafted in secret by lobbyists and special-interest groups, with very little input from Congress except from its radically socialist members. They have long been completed; stored away for the right crisis or crises to unleash them.

And as you read this, in secret and without public accountability, the Treasury Secretary is "reinventing" our entire financial system.

They hate freedom

If you are wondering how those now in power could hate this country enough to want to destroy it, don't.

The first reason is quite simple: The ruling socialist elites consider the Constitution of the United States to be overly restraining and regressive -- to government. It is obvious that the Left hates freedom and the choices inherent in the concept of freedom.

The president has stated that the Bill of Rights and the Constitution are rife with negatives. On this he is correct: The Constitution is negative toward government abuses and severely limits its power over States and The People.

The second reason is that they genuinely hate a free-market America, where work, individual achievement, and initiative are rewarded. They want to control everything about the lives of all American citizens -- all of us -- and punish the achievers while rewarding supporters in the ranks of the non-producers.

And these arrogant rulers have set forth the means to do all of this in long-planned legislation that has come before the Senate and the House this year.

Awaken

It is hoped that Americans, awakening from the stupor generated by smoothly-delivered teleprompting, polished rhetoric, and false illusions will soon remind these elitists that their charade has come to an end.

We really are governed now by a small group that despises a liberty-blessed America. They strive for complete control over other people's property, money, labor, and thought. They strive to control our lives.

The great President Reagan reminded us "...of the need to give our sons and daughters a cause to believe in and banners to follow. If this [American liberty] is a dream, it is a good dream, worthy of our generation and worth passing on to the next. Let this day mark the beginning."

Hype and Chains.
