Amtrak medical care

by BD Pisani ♦ 30 jul 2009

We hear it incessantly as State-run Media follows its orders. The Democrat Congress and The One tell us free-market health care doesn't work, yet we haven't had a free market regulating our health care system in decades.

Government tax policies have made us dependent on our jobs to get health insurance. State governmentBad Medicine policies have made insurance too expensive by piling on mandates for specific types of coverage. Medicare and Medicaid have fixed the prices we pay for health care, causing the paradox of both price inflation and shortages in areas like primary care.

Political meddling is directly to blame for corrupting the affordability and portability of health insurance, the very means we use to access the finest health care system on the planet.

Government manipulation

Big Government, not the health care system, is the number one problem. Why do states require maternity care for single males or alcoholism therapy for people who don't drink? Madness.

In 2008 The Council for Affordable Health Insurance found 1,961 examples of state-mandated coverage, all of which contribute to obscenely overpriced premiums.

According to Downsize DC (more on them later, and hat tip to MK Freeberg over at the House of Eratosthenes):

The government already pays for nearly half of all health care -- this means we're half-socialized already. Starting with depression-era wage and price controls and continuing with government tax policies, the politicians have made Americans dependent on their jobs to get health insurance.

So today we are faced with Government-run Health Care Rationing. Big Government wantsStatist Health Care to exploit the crisis it created by taking over even more control of our medical care.

Rather than quit the bureaucratic meddling that forces high insurance costs, they want to rule your personal health care and in the process destroy America's premier health and medical services system.

Say hello to government-run health care; a medical Amtrak. It's slogan will be: "We ain't good but we're all you've got!"

If we don't stand, who will?

Earlier I mentioned Downsize DC, a non-partisan organization that believes the federal government has grown too centralized, too intrusive, and too expensive. You should register if you believe in:

Constitutional limits, smaller government, civil liberties, federalism, and low taxes. Abolishment of laws and programs that don't work, cause harm, and violate the Constitution. Full-force restoration of the 9th and 10th Amendments, which reserve most social functions to the people and the states.

Visit the site to learn about their campaigns and unique power emailing system. Also, read a 16-page special report (.pdf format - large file) that details the Downsize DC Vision and the strategy for achieving its goals.

Using their system to contact Florida Senators Bill Nelson (D) and Mel Martinez (R), and Representative Tom Rooney (R) about the insanity that is Government-run Health Care Rationing, each received the following:

Please oppose increased government involvement in health care. Please work to reduce government involvement in health care.

Unfortunately, I am all too familiar with government-run health care. My Canadian wife and I lost our sister-in-law Gloria after she was placed on a mandatory waiting list for specialist treatment of a brain tumor.

It did not matter that Gloria resided in Port Hope, Ontario - Canada's wealthiest and most populous province. During the agonizing seven-month delay, Gloria's condition worsened and she passed away.

I respectfully request that you reverse your intention to harm Americans by sentencing us to a life of socialized health care rationing.

Sincerely,

Folks, we don't want this socialist abomination for America or our children. Our nation and our progeny deserve better.

Hype and Chains.
