Stimulate this
With this month's prediction by the Congressional Budget Director that unemployment will continue rising -- above 10 percent -- into the second half of 2010, Americans are wondering, "Where's the stimulus?"
Thus far, state-owned media such as MSNBC, CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, the NY Times, and LA Times have been dutifully placating the masses, duping them with a non-stop, whimsical, fantasy-tinged mantra of economic genesis.
But reality, that pesky little buzz-killer, just won't go away:
- The Labor Department's monthly job report features unemployment above nine percent;
- Since January, nearly two million private-sector jobs have been lost - or 13,500 jobs per day;
- Because the Federal Reserve's expansion of the money supply is not sustainable, the economic recession must intensify;
- Government social handouts accounted for 16.2 percent of all personal income in the first quarter of 2009. Nanny benefits will top $2 trillion this year -- highest in the nation's history -- and growing;
- Beginning this year, Big Government must finance its vast and growing debt -- meaning tax increases on wages, benefits, and insurance for all Americans;
- Plan on a new National Sales Tax that will burden consumers further, hinder spending, and thereby devastate small businesses;
- Fuel and energy prices will skyrocket as demand grows and supplies shrink;
- Plans are in place to make energy so expensive that the tiny, flimsy, unsafe, power-starved cars built by Government Motors, cars nobody wants, might be marketable; and
- Rising energy costs and exorbitant tax increases will effectively throttle corporate and small business re-investments, growth, and solvency;
The Democrat Congress, Obama, and state-owned media are stimulating the wrong things: massive debt, creeping interest rates, rising inflation, higher taxes, no incentives for economic growth, an anemic stock market, a valueless U.S. Dollar, and a "recovery" without job creation.
Obama's statist administration and the Democrat Congress are systematically forcing the largest expansion of government in the history of the United States.
Feigning economic urgency, they are rewarding political allies with billions of stimulus dollars, fellow travelers such as labor unions, ACORN, and the usual special-interest groups that keep them in power.
But the only urgency is in the measures the Democrat statists employ to hide the paper trail of stimulus money payola.
What's that? Didn't donate to the DNC? Guess who no longer has an automobile franchise?
Statists alone determine who will or won't drink from the payoff trough -- that so-called stimulus money newly-printed or plundered from saving and retirement accounts, the bankruptcies of companies such as GM and Chrysler, and funds bilked from investor returns.
And let's not forget about pilfering from our children's futures.
