Practical tyranny

by BD Pisani ♦ 23 March 2009

In a civil society the rule of law is voluntarily imposed through public concurrence, clearly defined, just, and predictable. Citizens of a civil society willingly accede to a uniform rule of law, regardless of wealth, station, or influence.

In American society, the citizen-approved rule of law is defined under the providence of the Constitution of the United States.

We Americans voluntarily accept constitutional authority in order to maintain the civility of our society, national cohesion, and the freedom to succeed for our progeny.

But since the national election of 2006 to present day, the American rule of law, the free market, and the Constitution itself have been increasingly assaulted by corrupt elected officials, naked misrule, and imperial hubris.

Arrogant coercion

In the lifetimes of any of you reading this, you have never witnessed an American government so maliciously determined to abrogate our constitutional rule of law. We are now subjected to the malevolence of one-party rule whose power was obtained through fraudulent campaigning, abetted and vetted by an accommodating press.

With an insolence rivaling that of any despot living or dead, the Democrat administration and Democrat Congress are systematically implementing measure after measure, day after day, designed to coerce the rule of law.

They are arrogantly wielding the powers of office to eviscerate the rights of private citizens, emasculate America's free market economy, and smother dissent.

And it won't end until Americans end it at the ballot box.

Charismatic cult

We now have a Teleprompter President, a living emoticon whose singular strength is charisma. Pre-election, the media ensured that he was enveloped in a protective cocoon of positive projection. His handlers and media allies cunningly crafted a cult following based solely on personality and sloganeering.

He has not exhibited any presidential mien or experience other than his lifelong commitment to a radical philosophy of socialism. He has displayed no substance other than his well-orchestrated campaign slogans and rhetorical banter.

America has been denied any instrument by which to measure the nature of his character. His past was and is still deliberately exaggerated or purposely shrouded in mystery -- from birth to young adult. His opponents and detractors have been savaged.

The word cult is not idly used. With no substantive agenda and on the strength of catch phrases and a mantra of "Hope and Change," he coerced innocent but gullible Americans into blindly trusting him with the presidency.

By the power of his personality, carefully staged and prompted events, skillful manipulation of white guilt, and a compliant Democrat Congress, academia, and media, America now has an unqualified -- and darkly peevish -- president.

As clearly illustrated thus far and to America's shame, we are witnessing the Peter Principle unfold on an international stage. But despite the emptiness of the suit, here there be monsters.

Statist agenda

Americans have already witnessed the Democrat Congress and Democrat administration orchestrate a premeditated federal takeover of the banking system, automobile industry, mortgage institutions, and lending markets. Americans will soon witness the oligarchic takeover of the energy industry, health care, and education -- thereby assimilating control of America's wealth.

To many Americans, such usurpations of liberty stray beyond our constitutional rule of law. We have all witnessed the same statist machinations -- the nationalization of private-sector finance, industry, and social services -- in the Soviet Union, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Cuba, Venezuela, Bolivia, Panama, and dozens of other autocratic regimes.

But now Americans are witnessing generational theft and the squandering of our national wealth by the uncontrolled spending of trillions we don't have, all to further statist goals. Americans are now experiencing the use of congressional power, executive orders, and government agencies to assault private citizens through unlawful punitive taxes and property takings.

These things only happen in Third World nations, in tyrannical nations -- don't they?

Stifling dissent

Democrat Members of Congress and the administration have enacted an unconscionable campaign to publicly attack private citizens. Journalists, entertainers, and any other detractors have been repeatedly singled out by name for public flogging.

The Democrat propaganda wing -- mainstream media, adjunct Internet coalitions, and Hollywood -- relentlessly hammer home these attacks by following carefully-crafted scripts orchestrated by the White House Chief of Staff and his confederates.

Statist opponents courageous enough to speak out against what they believe to be un-American have their tax records, personal histories, and even medical records illegally made public by sycophant Democrat bureaucrats at all levels of government.

Americans will soon have to contend with the return of the Fairness Doctrine. This misnamed pillaging of the First Amendment represents nothing less than the iron-fisted imposition of censorship in America.

Tyranny under any guise, no matter how gently or incrementally applied, is still tyranny.

The liberty our forebears suffered, bled, and died for is at risk. It is past time for Americans to awaken.
