Natural born citizen?

The manner of selection to the executive power vested in a President of the United States of America is clearly enumerated under Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution. Within that same section we also find the presidential eligibility requirements clearly defined in the fifth clause which reads:

No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

Really, who is this man?

That particular clause is why the We The People Foundation (WTPF) is publishing a full-page Open Letter to Mr. Obama in the Chicago Tribune on both Monday, December 1, 2008 and Wednesday, December 3, 2008.

The foundation's goal is to force President-elect Obama to provide the National Press Club of Washington, D.C., by December 15, 2008, with certified copies of his:

If you are wondering why the WTPF is demanding this verification, it is because to date, there is no evidence in the public record that defeats the claim that Barack Obama is barred by law from assuming the Office of President because he fails constitutional eligibility requirements.

In fact, Team Obama and Obama himself repeatedly refused to provide evidence of his eligibility when challenged to do so in a number of recent lawsuits -- and still refuse today. Incredibly, they have been successful in having judges declare that they are powerless to order Obama to prove his eligibility to assume the Office of President.

Electors and potential treason

On December 15, state Electors of the Electoral College will meet to cast their votes for the presidency. Each Elector is constitutionally required to ensure that the person they vote for is a natural-born citizen. The WTPF has informed all Electors that they cannot cast a vote for Obama without documentary evidence of his eligibility.

But what does all this mean? What happens if it turns out that Obama is not eligible to serve as president? I suspect now would be a good time to read the WTPF's PDF-format Open Letter to Barack Obama. In it they have outlined just a few of the consequences with which we will be faced should Obama turn out to be fraudulent.

This is going to be very interesting indeed.
