More murders in Chicago than in Iraq, Afghanistan
The City of Chicago is number one, but not for sports achievement. No, Chicago is once again the murder capital of the United States, thanks to Governor Rod Blagojevich, the Illinois General Assembly, Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, Chicago's Drive-by Media, and legions of anti-gun nuts -- all Democrats or Democrat Party-controlled. Between the Memorial Day weekend of May 26 to the end of Labor Day on September 1, 123 people were shot and killed.
123 people were shot and killed. That's nearly twice the number of soldiers killed in combat in Iraq or Afghanistan over the same time period.
Let that sink in for a moment. According to the U.S. Department of Defense, 65 soldiers were killed in combat in Iraq, and about the same number were killed in Afghanistan over that same three-month period. But wait, there's more. In the same three-month interval, the Windy City shamefully suffered an estimated 245 people who were shot and wounded. Now that is yet another statistic about which Mayor Daley can be proud -- really puff out his chest.
Criminal politicians
The Democrat Party's mayors, aldermen, and their cronies have been firmly entrenched for generations. The current crop who rule the City of Chicago with a collective iron fist have mandated "... Mayor Daley doesn't worry about the fate of unarmed citizens; He has armed guards who protect him."that unarmed citizens must submit to being murdered, raped, raped and then murdered, assaulted, and robbed -- or go to prison as convicted felons for violating a profusion of stringent anti-gun laws if they are caught arming themselves in self-defense. It is important to remember that these are the same Tammany Hall-like partisans who call President Bush a "criminal" for waging war against murdering Islamic terrorists -- the same murdering terrorists who have killed 4,200 Americans since 1972. This is hardly surprising, since President Bush is not a socialist and avidly defends all ten Articles comprising the Bill of Rights.
And of course, Mayor Daley doesn't worry about the fate of unarmed citizens -- he has armed guards who protect him. In effect, the safe, secure Right Honorable Mayor has implicitly required that all law-abiding Chicagoans wear large signs which boldly proclaim, "Rape Me, I'm Defenseless" or "Rob Me, I'm Unarmed." This implied requirement does not, however, impose any burden whatsoever on Chicago's burgeoning, murderous criminal population.
Any reasonably intelligent person with a modicum of common sense is therefore prompted to ask: Why don't Chicagoans vote this ruling class out of office? What will it take for Chicagoans to finally realize that their city's Draconian anti-gun laws don't work, never did, and never will? When will Chicagoans deem enough is enough?
Armed deterrence proven over decades
We have decades of hard statistical data compiled by federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, justice departments, private organizations, and independent research groups. Pro- and anti-gun factions have exhaustively analyzed, re-analyzed, parsed, and debated these findings until there is nothing left to scrutinize. In the end, it all comes down to personal philosophy, calculated social agenda, or political expediency because the data is conclusive:
Statistically, states with the largest rates of gun ownership also have the lowest rates of violent crimes.
Thus far, thirty-eight states have instituted "shall-issue" gun laws on behalf of their citizens' welfare. Such laws allow adults the right to carry concealed handguns -- and to protect themselves -- if they do not have a criminal record or a history of mental illness. "Thus far, thirty-eight states have instituted 'shall-issue' gun laws on behalf of their citizens' welfare."Unfortunately, this good news cannot apply to America's largest municipalities because those Blue Cities are ruled by liberals and a political party that is maniacally anti-gun. And as to an armed citizenry deterring violent crime, there is no longer anything other than frivolous debate over whether the deterrence is real; the only serious debate remaining is to the degree of its significance. But of far greater significance is the moral and constitutional right to your own life and safety, and the right to a reasonable defense of yourself, your family, your possessions, and others in life-or-death circumstances.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics, more than 1.2 million violent crimes are thwarted annually by armed, law-abiding men and women. More than 3,000 times every day, an American citizen thwarts a violent crime with a gun. It's not good news to agenda-driven liberals or the Drive-by Media and thus there is no fanfare -- and yet this is very often accomplished with no shooting involved.
200,000,000 guns legally owned by law-abiding American citizens killed no one yesterday -- but they did save lives.
