41 senators, 41 lies, 41 abuses of power

by BD Pisani - 2007 oct 20

17 days ago, Democrat Senator Harry Reid used the floor of the Senate to officially censure radio broadcast giant Rush Limbaugh and comments he made on his world-famous program. Reid knowingly lied to the Senate and to America when he took words Limbaugh said, referring to non-military persons who claim to be soldiers as "phony soldiers," out of context.

The contemptible Democrat Majority Leader Reid and 40 of his party's senatorial ilk turned away from the business of the nation to instead smear a private citizen. They sent a letter demanding the "repudiation" of their trumped-up interpretation of Rush Limbaugh's comments about the "phony soldier" Jesse Al-Zaid (also known as Jesse MacBeth) and other "phony soldiers" who falsify their service. The letter was delivered to Mark P. Mays of Clear Channel Communications, Rush Limbaugh's syndication partner, and widely quoted in the Drive-By Media.

In those official Senate comments, Reid and many others of his leftist cabal accused Mr. Limbaugh of attacking our troops, of being unpatriotic, of dodging the draft during the Vietnam Era, and therefore of not being capable to even comment on war in general and combat soldiers in particular. Not only did Reid and 40 of his fellow Democrat senators falsely smear Mr. Limbaugh in the Congressional Record, they attempted to harm his livelihood and his sponsors by sending that letter to Mr. Mays.

In the letter, Democrat Reid demanded that Mr. Mays muzzle Mr. Limbaugh, and urged him to demand that Limbaugh apologize for insulting our troops. The B2 Journal has provided a link to the letter, including the signatures of the 41 Democrat Senators who signed the lie-filled smear (Caution: large .PDF file - allow time to load).

Big government attacks private citizen

If you read Rush Limbaugh's own words that follow, you will begin to understand just how chilling this is - I know what these people have attempted to do is certainly troubling to me:

"Look at what happened. The Senate leader, the Senate majority leader, smeared a private citizen -- a private citizen, I, me, who has donated time and money to the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation. The government tried to take away my living, by sending this letter to Mark Mays at Clear Channel and asking him to confer with me about my remarks. So that was an attempt from him to take away from me my living, and in the process my ability to support charities like this: the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation.

This is the government, by the way, that our Founding Fathers warned us about and tried to protect us from, with a Bill of Rights. As a result (and I have tingles going up my spine here, and I have had all week long), fellow private citizens took up the cause. They bid their own hard-earned, after-tax dollars -- and many of you are sending your money in small amounts and large amounts to the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation, the charity that Senator Reid indirectly attempted to damage when he smeared the charity's board member and very active donor and fund-raiser. The government was used as a blunt instrument here on me, and you could almost say as a blunt instrument on people in need."

Take a moment to think about this. Despite what you think and despite his employment as an independent broadcaster, Rush Limbaugh is indeed a private citizen. He is not part of any government agency, does not speak for any organized political party, is not considered "legitimate media" by the biased Drive-by Media, and owns his own radio show and all of its content. Yet Limbaugh, a private citizen like you or me, was viciously and officially attacked by the federal government for voicing his opinion - for exercising his First Amendment right.

And even more chilling is the fact that Democrat Reid and his liberal senate partners in crime purposely lied and repeated those lies in a venal attempt to silence Limbaugh. Read those signatures attached to that letter and see if your senator (or both) was a signer - then fire off an email as B2 did to Florida's Bill Nelson.

Abuse of power

By their actions, Democrat Reid and his bunch made very clear to all that they are a legitimate threat to the United States and the freedoms of its citizens. Rush Limbaugh was referring to a genuine phony soldier, Jesse MacBeth, and MacBeth is not the only phony scoundrel, military pretender, and hater of American boys and girls in uniform.

"It is nothing less than a gross abuse of power when these elitist schemers use the full weight of Congress to attack a citizen for voicing an opposing point of view ..."

You could include Scott Thomas who wrote fraudulent, phony accounts in the New Republic about atrocities he saw in Iraq that never happened and that he never witnessed. You could include Democrat Jack Murtha, trumpeting phony charges that Marines in Haditha engaged in wanton murder of innocent children and civilians and disgracefully demanding their imprisonment. You could include Democrat John Kerry, hautily charging soldiers with phony atrocities during the Vietnam War and again during the Iraq War. You could include Democrat Dick Durbin, falsely charging soldiers with phony war crimes in Iraq and of emulating Stalin's treatment of prisoners. You could even include Democrat Pete Stark when he leveled this phony, despicable charge against the president just this past Thursday:

"You don't have money to fund the war or children. But you're going to spend it to blow up innocent people if we can get enough kids to grow old enough for you to send to Iraq to get their heads blown off for the President's amusement."

It is nothing less than a gross abuse of power when these elitist schemers use the full weight of Congress to attack a citizen for voicing an opposing point of view. These Democrat Party hacks are not patriots - patriotism to them is opposing the administration and the United States military for political gain, regardless of the harm they cause or the deaths of REAL American patriots they help bring about. Patriotism to them is lying and taking out of context the words of a person who loves this nation, who has always been among the biggest supporters of our troops, and who has donated millions of dollars of his own money to support the children of Marines lost in battle and federal law enforcement officers lost in the line of duty.

The people fight back

Rush Limbaugh, unlike most people personally attacked by Big Government, did not back down. In fact, he and the millions in his audience turned the tables on the Democrat Party and the Drive-by Media - His idea was brilliant and helps explain why Limbaugh is hands down the most-listened to broadcaster in the history of radio.

Quite simply, after Clear Channel broadcast partner Mark Mays gave him the original Reid smear letter, Limbaugh offered the letter up for eBay auction last Friday. What an innovative way to publicize the hypocrisy of the Democrat Party, the Drive-by Media, and their propaganda organizations MoveOn.org and Media Matters for America!

On Monday, the bid was up to $17,000.00. On Tuesday, $35,000.00.

Today, Friday October 19 (the final day of the auction), the winning bid for the letter was $2,100,100.00! The winner was Ms. Betty Casey, philanthropist and patriot. She stated that the scurrilous attacks perpetrated by the Democrats against Limbaugh angered her so much that she felt it imperative to bid.

Make no mistake - the Democrat smear letter is a document of historic proportions. Seldom in the history of the United States Senate has a private citizen been so attacked. This is especially disturbing when you consider that the attacks were based upon premeditated lies, planned and perpetrated by elected representatives of the people.

Remember, these are the same imperious thugs who applauded the negligent misuse of armed federal forces and who scoffed at and ignored the prudence recommended by local law enforcement before the bloody debacles unfolded at Ruby Ridge, at Waco, and the armed abduction of Elian Gonzales in the dead of night.

Truth triumphs

A thoroughly rattled Reid, shocked at the overwhelmingly favorable response to Limbaugh's public belittlement of his smear letter, again contacted Mark Mays in a frantic attempt to get the auction shut down and staunch the bleeding - Mr. Mays would have none of it. In addition to the auction, Limbaugh offered free copies of the vile letter for download on his Web site. So after all this, what did Reid do?

At high noon today, Democrat Majority Leader Reid again took to the floor of the Senate and ran up the white flag - but this time he tried to take credit for the letter being used for charity! He barely mentioned Rush Limbaugh for his charitable work and invoked the word "we" several times when giving credit for the auction. He told America that they should bid for charity, and to do an Internet search for the "Harry Reid" letter if they were interested - as if this was all his idea. He also intimated that it was his letter that forced Limbaugh to do what he did.

Not only is Reid shameless, he is a despicable human being. It is no wonder why Limbaugh, according to the latest polls, is now more popular in Reid's home state of Nevada than is Reid.

But more importantly, the upshot is that by his actions today Reid admitted to the nation that Rush Limbaugh was victorious - that Limbaugh prevailed over the radical socialists in the United States Senate. And Limbaugh did it all by himself - he received not one bit of fair reportage or help of any kind from the Drive-by Media.

I guess these clueless brain surgeons forgot that they were attempting to disingenuously smear a man who wields the awesome power of a 25-million-strong listening audience on 650 radio stations in the United States alone.

The military admires Rush, not Reid

And the fearless Reid? Not only did he refuse the challenge to appear on Limbaugh's show and make his accusations to Rush face-to-face, he ignored the challenge to copy Rush Limbaugh and match the winning bid dollar-for-dollar.

That's right - Rush Limbaugh is matching Ms. Casey's winning bid with a donation of $2,100,100.00 of his own money, just as he vowed to do when he started the eBay auction - and he has donated far more than that in the past. Our boys and girls in uniform have no bigger fan or greater ally than Rush Limbaugh, and they know it.

The members of our armed forces know how much Limbaugh supports them and how strongly and passionately he defends them on his program from daily Democrat Party attacks against the military. That's why 89 percent of all military personnel stationed overseas want all three hours of Limbaugh's radio show on Armed Forces Radio, rather than just the one hour that is allotted for broadcast due to some bureaucrat's wrong-headed idea of "fairness."

I think it is important to note that our brave military personnel emphatically don't want to hear Harry Reid, Air America, or anyone else in the Democrat Party gang of military-hating socialists.
