Leftists attack miniseries, not terrorists
The Democrat Party is on the attack in a desperate attempt to hide the fact that Bill Clinton was negligent in his lack of responses to several terrorist attacks, thus ultimately leading to the devastation of 9/11. Apparently the Left will fight for censorship but will only appease terrorists.
The Path to 9/11, an ABC miniseries due to be broadcast on Sunday and Monday nights, charts the run-up to the attacks that occurred five years ago and killed 2,992 people. The show portrays Clinton's former national security adviser, Sandy Berger, and many other Clinton aides as inept and having botched a sure-thing opportunity to capture Saudi terrorist Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan in the 1990s.
Too busy to bother
The show also suggests that not only was Clinton too distracted by several scandals to confront the Islamic fascist threat that culminated in the September 11 attacks, his inaction after the Mogadishu massacre, the USS Cole bombing, Khobar Towers bombing, and the U.S. embassy bombings in Sudan and Tanzania inspired bin Laden with the notion that America was a "Paper Tiger" and ripe for attack — bin Laden stated this was so in a video recorded after the September mass murder attacks.
This is the same administration that turned down an offer of Osama bin Laden from Saudi Arabia because Clinton said (and this is recorded on tape) that " we don't have any place to hold him." This is the same administration that turned down eight other separate opportunities to take out bin Laden, and in fact in one instance his Secretary of State, Madeline Albright, telephoned officials in Islamabad, Pakistan about such an opportunity, who promptly warned bin Laden before any U.S. action could be taken.
So what about the ABC program? Clinton wrote to and personally called Robert Iger, president and CEO of ABC's corporate parent, the Walt Disney Company, demanding that he "cancel this factually inaccurate and deeply misguided program." Democrat Senators Harry Reid, Chuckie Schumer, Jay Rockefeller, Ted Kennedy, Dick Durbin, and the rest of the usual suspects followed suit, demanding that Iger heavily edit or pull the miniseries.
These self-styled "defenders of free speech" went so far as to threaten ABC with the loss of broadcast licenses for their affiliate television stations if the miniseries was broadcast as is.
Silence the media, alter the record
Today, ABC capitulated. The network stated that segments of the program were undergoing "significant revision." This whole affair is absolutely despicable and should serve as a wake-up call to all Americans who care about substance, integrity, and character. The modern Democrat Party has turned their pockets inside-out and displayed to all just how bankrupt they really are.
The Clinton administration, all of its members, and all of its Drive-By Media groupies have attempted for years to build a legacy where one does not exist. We suffered with a president in the 1990s who shirked responsibility for big issues, preferring instead to rack up high approval ratings and create an image of carefree good times. Clinton allowed the murder of Americans and the attacks on our sovereignty to go unavenged, sending a green light and clear message to terrorists.
However, while Clinton and his toadies today attempt to take credit for certain successes on their watch, they fail to mention that the booming economy and landmark welfare reform were thanks to a Republican Congress, and that Clinton once vetoed a tax cut bill and twice vetoed a welfare reform bill before Congress overrode his vetoes.
The Left wants to preserve the illusion of a pleasant decade with no threats anywhere, while Americans were being bombed and murdered all over the world and not a single act of retaliation that had any substance was taken to avenge any of it.
Leftists know the truth; they know why Sandy Berger stole files relevant to Clinton's incompetence from the National Archives by stuffing them in his socks and down his pants. But since when has the truth ever stopped a zealot? Perhaps in this case of strong-arm media censorship we should call them Stalinists.
Double standards
So now we have media coercion and forced censorship soiling their socialist hands. Apparently they didn't always think this way, because it was only in 2003 that the Left went ballistic when CBS decided not to broadcast The Reagans, a miniseries that presented a hostile, biased hit piece about President and Nancy Reagan. Democrats John Dingell and Tom Daschle in particular pandered on all of the talking head news shows, slamming CBS for not showing the program and labeling the network's decision as "appalling."
So let's review, shall we? The Democrat Party will fight to the death to hide the truth from the American people about the Clinton administration but they would not and will not:
- Approve $87 billion to provide our soldiers with munitions, body armor, and armor for their Humvees;
- Vote to renew the Patriot Act (they publicly celebrated after they defeated it);
- Refrain from leaking critical defense secrets to the media for political purposes, leaks that ultimately cost the lives of U.S. servicemen;
- Support the president's foreign surveillance program, the same program that has prevented 52 known terrorist acts since its inception;
- Support the duly elected government of Iraq with American forces until the Iraqis can defend their country from Iranian-backed foreign murderers and Baathist terrorists;
- Support the incarceration of and military justice for the terrorists and murderers held at Guantanamo Bay Naval Base;
- Defend our troops and give them the benefit of the doubt before trial when they were accused of crimes in Iraq; and
- Join their colleagues across the aisle in bipartisan support for defending America from the scourge of terrorism.
This is the collection of disingenuous, radical misfits who want you to trust them with the security of the United States. Remember all of this come election day because if this bunch is not in of themselves treasonous, their actions certainly have been.
