Shrill Left suddenly silent on NSA surveillance
Where is the shrill scolding over domestic spying from Schumer, Clinton, Durbin, Reid, and Pelosi? Where is the bombastic bleating of Kennedy, Boxer, Biden, Dean and the rest of the Democratic Party's bloviating blowhards?
Has the National Security Agency (NSA) discontinued its so-called "wiretapping" program? Has President Bush capitulated, has he abandoned the terrorist monitoring program? The answer to the these questions will soon be made obvious to even the most uninformed reader.
With Great Britain leading the way along with the United States and Pakistan, a Muslim terrorist plot featuring a series of deadly mid-air explosions on flights between London and America scheduled for August 16 was unearthed and then thwarted. Why? Because the international surveillance programs of Britain and America work and were instrumental in the disruption of the planned attacks.
Surveillance program works
I would like each of you to contemplate the weightiness of the following sentence: This murderous Islamist act was foiled because Muslim terrorist organizations and their associates were under surveillance, specifically their spending, travel and communications. Did you catch that? No? The NSA International Surveillance Program is not domestic spying, it works, and it is preventing terrorism!
That's why the radical Left is silent; That's why President Bush will never cave in to the political grand-standing of the appeasement crowd; That's why the NSA program will be implemented as long as Congress and the White House are controlled by people who cherish America and freedom.
It is telling that after the plot was thwarted, the wrong-headed Left could not bring themselves to acknowledge the effectiveness of covert surveillance or muster even a remotely civil public statement. No. Led by Democrat Senators Harry Reid and Ted Kennedy, they once again attacked the president, citing the Iraq War as reason for Islamist hatred of and terrorist attacks against America. Despicable.
Apparently the Left has conveniently forgotten the last 30 years' worth of Muslim terrorist attacks against the United States. These are the very same people who have been screaming that the NSA surveillance program is somehow illegal domestic spying. Mind you, should the Left win back Congress in November, the very surveillance program that just saved hundreds, perhaps thousands of lives will be terminated and used as the first nail hammered home in the trumped-up impeachment coffin of President Bush.
Congressional enablers of defeatism
Democrats Reid and Kennedy, provided with close-air support from their Drive-By Media lapdogs, are today whining about the lack of results in the Iraq War causing a lack of results in the Terror War. Yet these are the same people who have fought tooth and nail to eviscerate the intelligence, detention, and interrogation programs necessary for the survival of America.
Islamist terror is not going away. What we face today is merely a continuation of what was begun in the Seventh Century A.D. We are forcefully reminded every day by our Islamist enemies that the West will be defeated and subjugated, with no appeal, no conciliation, and no quarter. This is a war between modern civilization and a barbaric, medieval society, and it will never end until one side or the other wins.
