North American Jihad
There are literally hundreds of anti-Semitic mugging, vandalism, and harassment incidents occurring each year in the United States and Canada, and the numbers are increasing. Far more onerous, however, is the increase in violent crimes perpetrated against Jews — by Muslims.
Today there are Muslims, both homegrown and immigrant and in greater numbers than many suspect, who loathe America and all it stands for. Their main focus is to convert the susceptible, exploit the freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution, and develop a movement that will ultimately grow powerful enough to subjugate America's rule of law, spiritual beliefs, and independent thought.
Growing Islamist violence
Most Americans are only now awakening to the growth of Islamist militancy on college campuses across the nation. Universities, both rural and metropolitan, from Slippery Rock to Stanford, now feature curricula and tenured professors that depict Israel as the chronic oppressor, Islamists everywhere as innocent, beleaguered victims, and Jews as the root cause of all evil. It is now commonplace to observe an anti-Semitic rally on some university campus nearly every day in America — and it is condoned by the inaction of an indifferent citizenry.
But perhaps the most disturbing trend is the increase in violent assaults and murders by Muslims — disturbing because our politicians, law enforcement officials, and officers of the court are refusing to admit its veracity for fear that they will be labeled as profilers or worse. Don't think so? Not possible? Listed below is a small sampling of recent events. Consider the acts and conclusions published for public consumption by law enforcement, prosecutors, and the liberal media:
CHAPEL HILL, NC — Mohammed Reza Taheri-azar, 22, an Iranian immigrant, drove a sport utility vehicle into a crowded pedestrian zone, striking nine people. He told the 911 dispatcher that he wanted to "punish the government of the United States for their actions around the world" and "avenge the deaths of Muslims around the world." Local prosecutors saw no evidence of a hate crime.
WASHINGTON D.C. — John Muhammed and Lee Malvo are captured after a sniper shooting spree that left 10 people dead. After his arrest, Muhammad stated that the September 11 terrorist attacks "should have happened a long time ago." The media and law enforcement looked to a "troubled childhood" as a reasonable factor in the murder binge.
BALTIMORE — Mujtaba Rabbani Jabbar, 24, shot Paul Schrum, a 62-year-old Jewish medical supplies salesman from Pikesville, dead while he watched a movie at Loews Valley Center 9 in Owings Mills. Jabbar told other patrons to get down before he murdered Schrum. Police did not acknowledge a hate crime connection and labeled the shooting as a random violent act.
HOUSTON — A Saudi national living in Houston, Mohammed Ali Alayed, slit the throat of and nearly decapitated a Jewish man, Ariel Sellouk, who was his one-time friend. Stephen St. Martin, assistant district attorney, stated that he did not try it as a hate crime because "it didn't help me in the case."
SEATTLE — A Muslim man angry with Israel barged into the offices of the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle Friday afternoon and opened fire with a handgun, killing one woman and wounding five others before surrendering. A law enforcement source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said there was no hate crime evidence or that Naveed Afzal Haq was involved with any group.
BALTIMORE — Baltimore police are investigating a firebombing at Baltimore Hebrew University after an employee reported a loud noise and then a fire at the base of a side door. "At this point, there's nothing that would indicate that this is a hate crime," Baltimore PD Agent Danny Moses said. "They have problems with juveniles in that area."
LOS ANGELES — 41-year-old Hesham Mohamed Hadayet, while standing in line at the ticket counter of Israel's El Al Airlines, shot and killed two and wounded four others. Federal, law enforcement, and city officials said it appeared the shooting was an isolated incident, with nothing to suggest otherwise.
Certainly these horrific attacks were not casual or spur-of-the-moment. No, this is just a mere sampling of the increasing Islamist violence some in America shrink from acknowledging as such. It should tell you something when the liberal media, academia, and the American Left adamantly refuse to label al-Qaeda, Hezbollah, or Hamas as terrorist organizations, yet wholeheartedly condemn Israel.
According to noted terrorist and al-Qaeda authority Rohan Gunaratna, all major terrorist attacks of the past decade in the West save one have been carried out by Muslim immigrants. Of the 212 suspected and convicted terrorist perpetrators during 1993-2003, 86 percent were Muslim immigrants and the remainder mainly converts to Islam.
Aiding and abetting religious murderers
It is apparent that there are elements within the United States, particularly the elites on the Left, who are either unwilling or ideologically opposed to doing what moral clarity dictates. To them, three decades of Muslim terrorist attacks directed at America, culminating with September 11, have only served to entrench their belief of Western duplicity and mobilize their support for the Islamist insurgence on the continent.
How else can you explain the very same propaganda phrases uttered by members of the Democratic Party in the halls of Congress emanating from Teheran, Damascus, Islamabad, Gaza, and Jakarta as well? How else can you explain America's own media publishing secret programs and documents, knowing beforehand that it will be harmful to the nation and its military abroad? How else can you explain law enforcement and the courts turning a blind eye to terrorist attacks occurring daily in the cities, towns, and villages of America?
It is no coincidence that the two world leaders with the courage and conviction to stand up to this latest planetary scourge, President Bush and Prime Minister Blair, are routinely savaged by the socialist elites, academia, and their media toadies at home and abroad. Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's daily calling for the destruction of Israel and death of The Great Satan is not idle prattle.
When will those who cherish freedom awaken and demand an end to the terrorism in our streets and on our campuses? When will we realize we are at war — and have been for a very long time?
