It's a fact: Tax lies have been debunked
This year, the soft underbelly of leftist propaganda was eviscerated by the repeated slashing of cold, hard facts. The double-edged lies that America's rich pay little or no taxes and that tax cuts don't work were disembowelled by one of the Left's own beloved bureaucratic agencies — the Internal Revenue Service ...
Yes, you read correctly. Big-government IRS has debunked the lies of America's big-government socialists. The very latest data released by the IRS concluded that the share of total income taxes paid by the top one percent of wage earners rose to 34.27 percent from 33.71 percent.
Schemers that you are, I know what you lefties out there are thinking: "Okay, so what? We all know that the rest of the rich Americans aren't paying their 'fair share.'"
You could not be more wrong, unless you thought al-Gore or al-Kerry were somehow presidential. Why don't we examine the facts, the total revenue picture, shall we?
Let's review the hard IRS data for all federal income taxes paid in the United States:
- The top 1 percent paid over a third, 34.27 percent;
- The top 10 percent paid 65.84 percent;
- The top 25 percent paid 83.88 percent; and
- The top 50 percent paid nearly all, 96.54 percent.
Ready? And now for the liberal tongue-swallower ... wait for it ... wait for it:
- The bottom 50 percent paid only 3.46 percent.
What? This can't be! The top one percent pays nearly ten times the federal income tax than does the entire bottom 50 percent? Individuals or couples filing jointly who earned $29,019 and up pay nearly ALL of the taxes? Why have we never heard of this? Why are we told that the rich skate while the poor donate?
You know why — call them what you want: Old Media, Antique Media, Liberal Media, Drive-By Media. By any name they are the Left's lap dogs and do as they are told.
And oh, by the way. Just so you know, the top one percent are those individuals or couples filing jointly who earn $295,495 or more. Not all that much, eh? Every single one of you reading this knows one or more persons in this category, and some of you are in this category. They (and you) are not trillionaires, billionaires, or even millionaires — try thousandaires.
Now for lie number two: The tax cuts are a gimmick and won't work. As previously cited in a B2 article entitled "It's The Economy, Stupid!" — Redux, the IRS also reported that its tax revenues for the month of April were the highest ever collected. Let me repeat that: The Highest Ever Collected. Keep this in mind as you read the next paragraph.
As stated earlier, the top one percent generated an increase in tax revenue from the previous reporting year, from 33.71 percent to 34.27 percent. However, their average tax rate actually dropped from 27.25 percent down to 24.31 percent! How can this be? You mean tax cuts actually helped generate more revenue? Why don't we ever hear about things like this? Ahem...like I said -- you already know why.
And let us not forget the jobs. "Say what?" You bellow, eyes crossed in stupified angst and apoplectic drool dribbling down your chin. "What do you mean, jobs?"
Now really. You mean to say you also weren't aware that five million new jobs have been created in our booming economy since the tax cuts went into effect? Oops! Yet another daily omission by that pesky Drive-By Media. If they don't report it, it never happened, right?
So the next time you hear a liberal elite pimping class warfare and promising to raise taxes on the rich while lowering taxes on the poor, ask him or her two basic question:
- 1. How can you lower taxes on the poor any more than what they are now when they practically don't pay any taxes as it is? and
- 2. Why punish the majority of Americans who create the nation's wealth, create its jobs, and pay nearly all of the taxes when the tax cuts have proven they help generate even greater wealth, more jobs, and thus more tax revenue?
It's up to you to ask because the lap dog Drive-By Media won't.
