Jeb, guns, and the liberal elite
The Left lives and breathes gun control and envisions it as a moral crusade against an ignorant, barbaric citizenry. These superior beings, who have taken upon themselves the noble burden of civilizing America's unwashed, wretched rabble, detest those who stand in their way. How they must loathe Florida Governor John Ellis (JEB) Bush.
One can only imagine how they despise people who believe in and defend personal freedom, and who promote personal responsibility. Not true, you say? Former New York Governor Mario Cuomo infamously characterized gun-owners as hunters who drink beer, don't vote, and lie to their wives about where they were all weekend. This isn't the random thought of an individual liberal elitist — they ALL think this way.
So now imagine just how deep-seated is their feeling of revulsion toward Governor Bush today. In addition to sharing a common birthright with the hated and vilified President Bush, this past Thursday Jeb signed into law six firearm measures that strengthen Florida's landmark 1987 concealed-carry statute. Yes, Florida's concealed-carry law that led 31 other states to grow a collective pair and restore personal freedom to their own citizens has now been augmented. Here's what Governor Jeb approved:
HB 285, prohibiting the governor from ordering the seizure of lawfully owned guns during a state of emergency. Our heartfelt thanks go out to those two hapless criminals, New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin and Louisiana Governor Blanco -- you know, the two thugs who by their negligence caused the deaths of hundreds of their citizens and then confiscated firearms from law-abiding citizens while lawbreakers looted, raped, and murdered;
HB 1029, making it legal to carry guns in national forests and state parks;
HB 687, making personal information about people who carry concealed weapons exempt from Florida's public-records laws. This is so criminals cannot target gun owners for robbery (you just know the limousine liberals are going batty over this one);
HB 125, requiring businesses that sell hunting and fishing licenses to offer their customers voter registration applications;
HB 265, requiring the state to find and open new land for public hunting when existing hunting land is closed, by development or other land-use changes; and
SB 1290, extending the time granted military personnel serving away from home to renew concealed weapon permits.
As Jeffrey R. Snyder so aptly stated in his A Nation of Cowards, "The Founding Fathers knew well, a government that does not trust its honest, law-abiding, taxpaying citizens with the means of self-defense is not itself worthy of trust. Laws disarming honest citizens proclaim that the government is the master, not the servant, of the people."
Mind you, as all-knowing as socialists claim to be, you would think they would be aware that there are not nine, six, three, or 274 Amendments found in the Bill of Rights — but that there are ten. And you would also think they realized that the one identified with today's commentary is prominently listed in that sacred document right up there in importance at Number Two.
And to think America's limousine liberals imperiously believe they have nothing left to learn...
