Immigration bait and switch
So there I was, dialed into the most listened-to talk show in the history of radio, when the host presented his ideas for immigration laws. To label these proposed laws as Draconian would be mild indeed...
I sat there in stunned amazement as Rush Limbaugh rattled off his series of laws, laws that not only imposed harshly unfair requirements upon immigrants but provided for severe criminal penalties if the laws were not followed. Listed below are many of the proposed Limbaugh Laws:
- Immigrants must speak this country's native language.
- Immigrants must be professionals or investors. Unskilled workers are not allowed.
- There will be no special bilingual programs in the schools and no special ballots for elections. No government business will be conducted in any immigrant language.
- Foreigners will not have the right to vote, regardless of length of residency, nor will they ever be allowed to hold political office.
- Immigrants cannot be a burden to taxpayers, and will never be entitled to welfare, food stamps, or other government social programs.
- Investors will be allowed to enter the country, but only if they invest an amount equal to 40,000 times the daily minimum wage.
- Immigrants may buy land, but with severe restrictions. Additionally, immigrants cannot buy waterfront property. That is reserved for citizens naturally born in this country.
- Foreigners must relinquish individual rights to property when so ordered by the government.
- Immigrants do not have the right to protest, are not allowed demonstrations, cannot wave a foreign flag or conduct political organizing, and are forbidden to criticize the government.
- Failure to comply with any immigration law, at any time, is a felony and will result in lengthy imprisonment.
Well, I was appalled, shocked, and dare I say stunned. These laws seem to contradict everything America stands for, don't they? As much as I pray for politicians with the guts to reform our woefully inadequate immigration laws and strengthen our immigration enforcement agencies, I think these laws are disgusting, cruel, and patently unfair to millions of people who simply dream of making money and sending it home to take care of their families in their own countries.
Double standards
It doesn't matter whether they are true immigrants and want to be Americans as some of them certainly are, or whether they are illegal workers, have no love for America or citizenship, and are simply bleeding America dry for anything they can get as many of them most definitely are.
These laws are still unfair, aren't they?
If you answered yes to that question, then apparently you feel exactly as do all of those millions of illegal workers, because every law you just read is in place and rigidly enforced in Mexico!
That's right. They are not Limbaugh's ideas. Contrary to the lies the Socialists spread about him, he is an intelligent, compassionate, fair man and does not think such thoughts. He must be intelligent -- you initially fell for his "immigration laws" bait-and-switch ploy as you read them, didn't you? It's okay -- you are not alone.
No, don't blame Rush. These laws are the masterpiece of Mexico, the land with no middle class, heart-wrenching poverty, and home to President Vicente Fox the Magnificent -- he who imperiously scolds us about our "unfair" immigration policies and pooh-poohs our security fears, haughtily fawning them off as nothing more than a ruse for Gringo racism.
This is more than a double standard; Our tolerance of such accusations is an indication of just how (pick one) gutless, indifferent, or malevolently calculating our politicians are when it comes to protecting our sovereignty, safeguarding our citizenry, ensuring our economic solvency, and maintaining the identity of the United States of America.
Politicians pimp for power
It is quite despicable, especially so during a time of war, that these perfumed, character-challenged, pampered skunks of every conceivable political stripe and at every level of American government don't care about the nation or our border security as much as furthering their selfish, power-hungry political agendas.
Establishment Republicans are spineless and are hoping that appeasement and the use of a thinly-veiled blanket amnesty program will keep them in power. Leftist Democrats are scheming, lying, and blocking critical legislation to weaken our national government, all the while promising illegals the moon to secure future votes so they can regain control and expand socialism. Clueless Libertarians are selling their nation down the river by demanding the suicidal anarchy of no restrictions on immigration whatsoever.
Meanwhile, simmering like an unwatched pot about to boil over, tens of millions of Reagan Conservatives and Reagan Democrats serving on the front lines of this mess are getting angrier by the day.
