San Francisco: Handguns and military keep out

by BD Pisani - 2005 nov 10

The usual suspects approved ballot measures to ban handgun ownership and urge public high schools and college campuses to keep out military recruiters in San Francisco, America's most freedom-inhibiting and socialist city.

San Francisco now joins ranks with Chicago and Washington, D.C., the only other cities to implement such sweeping handgun bans. It is interesting to note that both cities routinely lead the nation in violent crime statistics.

The military recruitment initiative opposes the presence of military recruiters at public high schools and colleges. However, with a loophole that stinks of hypocricy, it does not ban the armed forces from recruiting at city campuses, since that would put schools at risk of losing federal funding.

The enlightened but unarmed citizens and business owners of Leningrad by the Bay are soon going to learn that now only criminals will possess handguns, and the city's police force will not be nearby when needed. You can be certain that neighborhood gangs are celebrating the fact that their jobs just got easier.

Poetic justice? The ban goes into effect on April Fool's Day.
