The blame game, revisited
Finally. It seems that at least one of the special agenda-ridden obfuscators in Old Media with the merest smidgen of decency and credibility remaining to them (alas, not common sense -- that would be asking too much) has quit placing TOTAL blame on President Bush, FEMA, and the administration for not immediately responding to the Katrina kerfuffle.
Seems that the comrades and comradettes at one major network finally got it through their case-hardened skulls full of malicious-laden mush that FEMA is not a first response agency and that it is state and local government's mandated responsibility to initially manage disasters.
Ineffective local dolts
According to ABC, amazing in itself coming from one of the worst of all disingenuous Old Media outlets for crying out loud, those in power in Louisiana and New Orleans were pointing the finger squarely at the federal government for the delayed relief effort. But experts say when natural disasters strike, it is the primary responsibility of state and local governments – not the federal government – to respond. Gee, ya think? What the bloody Hell do you think Ol’ B2 has been screaming about since this sorry, sewage-saturated spectacle surfaced?
And this today (Friday) from that bird cage liner leftists know as The New York Times: There was so great a lack of leadership that President Bush's senior advisers debated whether the president should speed the arrival of active-duty troops by seizing control of the hurricane relief mission from the governor. This would have had to be done by invoking the Insurrection Act.
ABC News also tells us that Governor Kathleen Blanco failed to submit a request for help in a timely manner, while New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin was negligent to implement his disaster plan (and what a pretty paper doorstop it is) or evacuate residents with plenty of time to do so before the storm came ashore. No bovine excrement, Sherlock? You've probably noticed that Blanco and Nagin are now hurling blame bombs at one another sandwiched between frenetic fits of whining on TV.
Bureaucratic inaction
Shortly before Katrina hit, Blanco sent President Bush a request asking for shelter and provisions, but didn't specifically ask for help with evacuations. She also failed to announce that pesky little thing called "disaster declaration" in a timely fashion, a minor little annoyance required before any federal assistance can be implemented. A governor's aide told ABC News today (Thursday) Blanco thought city officials were taking care of evacuation. Apparently Nagin forgot about that itsy bitsy, insignificant, inconsequential part of the doorstop...er...plan.
Hmm, this is kinda like ... oh, I don't know ... Beaver: "Golly gee, Wally, I thought YOU were gonna cook mom's breakfast!" Wally: "Shaddup, Beav!" Yeah, kinda like, except for the bloated, rotting corpses, of course.
So there you have it. Right out of one of the world's most successful socialist propaganda organization's mouth. It is a beautiful thing to watch Nagin and Blanco point fingers at one another, where they rightly should be pointed. And don't you know that it pains ABC News greatly to report this publicly?
Hey, if you can't trust ABC, who can you trust? CNN? Sure you can.
