The Katrina blame game
Why not? What the Hell. Let's blame President Bush and his administration for Hurricane Katrina and all of its associated misery. I have read and heard uncountable personal, vicious attacks on our president vomiting forth from Old Media, the Democratic Party, and every socialist group with a Web site.
According to these lies, the president:
- Caused the storm to happen;
- Delayed relief efforts;
- DID NOT visit the disaster areas;
- DID visit the disaster areas;
- Doesn't care;
- Cares too much;
- Is too religious;
- Is personally responsible for the levees breaking;
- Doesn't care because he is a racist and New Orleans is 70 percent black; and
- Wants gas prices to rise so his oil stocks benefit.
There have been more whoppers than even Burger King could make up.
One national crisis after another
Mind you, these attacks are politically motivated and completely unjustified. Not since World War Two and certainly not within my lifetime has any president had to face the nearly uncountable national crises, one after another, with which this good man has had to contend. Yet he has done so with strength despite a constant negative barrage from the America-hating minority party and erstwhile allies abroad, has proven to be a model of good faith, leadership, and courage for his fellow citizens, and has shared grief with and embraced the victims of the attacks on America and the ravages of natural disasters while at the same time directing the full force of our government to help in any way possible.
I know this to be true because I personally met the man and saw him in action right here in Little Martin, my little corner of the world, when we were devastated by not one but two hurricanes within the span of one month. He was awesome and his presence and energy helped restore the toughness and grit that was sapped from every single one of us by the scope of the destruction, loss, and weeks of non-stop stress and fatigue.
Facts are another matter
So aside from all of the phlegm-filled lies spat out by the country's socialist party, its allied radical special interest groups, and its anarchists -- just who IS to blame, if indeed there is blame to smear and fingers to point? I will not waste my time blaming anybody in this time of crisis, but I will point out some obvious FACTS that simply do not get the coverage they deserve from the left-wing media. Consider:
- A hurricane-prone, below-sea-level city with no realistically usable state or local disaster evacuation plan;
- No effective state or local plan in place to care for evacuees with special medical needs;
- No effective state or local logistics plan in place to distribute short-term food and water supplies until federal assistance converges;
- Protective levees and dikes that were known FOR THE LAST TWO DECADES BY STATE AND LOCAL OFFICIALS to be too weak and ineffective to withstand the relentless pounding of upper-category cyclonic storm events;
- An ineffective, racist, race card-playing New Orleans mayor who sat on his hands for three days, lost his nerve and whined in front of the cameras, and did not demand that his police force do whatever they could to stop the looting, robbery, assaults, rapes, and murders until help arrived;
- A weak, indecisive Louisiana governor whose administration was totally unprepared and who wasted valuable recovery time by not initiating even the most rudimentary of assessments for the extent of devastation, the numbers of persons who CHOSE to stay and not evacuate; and unit numbers of food, water, ice, and medicines that might be required for immediate distribution;
- No effective state or local plan in place to ensure fuel for emergency power generators at critical medical facilities;
- No effective state or local plan in place to stage and operate emergency supply distribution centers;
- No effective state or local plan in place to provide adequate security, food, water, sanitary facilities, and medical staff at the city's too-few evacuee collection centers;
- No effective state or local emergency plan in place to deal with the sanitary and storage needs associated with loss of life that occurs in any major natural disaster; and
- No effective state or local recovery plan in place to restore at least partial power, potable water, and sewage services to the afflicted area, or to have on hand or stage portable emergency sanitary centers.
You want a realistic focus for blame? You got your wish. I am familiar with the Crescent City and as an emergency preparedness professional I could list dozens more reasons why New Orleans is the tragedy it is today without looking outside Pelican State borders. That's right -- If I DIDN'T want to dupe America and DIDN'T have a disingenuous agenda to push, I could come up with the REAL culprits -- and not attack and falsely accuse someone because it is politically expedient for the upcoming 2006 and 2008 elections. For all you clueless and single-issue folks out there who have readily swallowed all or some of the rubbish being incessantly shoveled down your throats, I hope you gag on it.
Inept, lying felons
And in case that brain surgeon of a New Orleans mayor has forgotten, there are two other states that sustained catastrophic damage and horrendous loss of life -- massive relief efforts must be mounted there as well, thereby limiting the response to his city. But the socialist media apparently doesn't care about the hundreds dead and billions in damages in Mississippi . . . probably because the governor is a conservative and not whining, and that Mississippi residents aren't murdering and raping fellow storm victims.
The governor of Louisiana and mayor of New Orleans owe an abject apology to the president and the American people for their shortsightedness, ineptitude, and total failure to properly manage the situation beginning long before the storm ever made landfall, all while playing the blame game to cover their own weaknesses.
The governor of Louisiana and mayor of New Orleans should fall on their hands and knees to thank the American people and our government for once again opening their arms, hearts, and pocketbooks to fellow citizens in need.
The governor of Louisiana and mayor of New Orleans should prostrate themselves and humbly beg forgiveness for the non-stop whining, complaining, and blaming of others for their own mistakes. Will these two incompetents finally be truthful and do what is right and proper?
Only when pigs fly.
So you've got to ask yourself: If a small-potatoes front-line grunt like B2 can unravel the web of lies, why can't "The Unbiased Defenders of Truth" like the Washington Post, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Newsweek, CNN, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, NBC, the BBC, and PBS? Hmm?
Save your breath, don't bother -- you already know because I just told you.
