Katrina ... Who's crazy now?
Disasters on a scale caused by Hurricane Katrina bring out the very best and very worst in people. But buried under the mob lootings, murders, and rapes happening in New Orleans is the fact that some law-abiding people are armed and prepared, and thus immune to the roving gangs of armed thugs.
All we ever hear about is that legal gun owners and the so-called 'survivalists' are whacked-out loonies, and that they are a danger to civilized society. As we are being educated daily by New Orleans lawlessness, we have to ask the question, "Who's crazy now?"
The answer is a no-brainer -- it is the anti-gun radicals and feel-good socialists. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best is a philosophy that all gun owners swear by. They feel comfortable with the general population when carrying firearms while also serving as advocates of constitutional rights and able to protect themselves and their families from sociopathic mobs and criminals.
How many times have you read stories that denigrated survivalists as dangerous anti-social kooks who stockpiled food, fuel, ammunition, and firearms in protected bunkers? As you read these stories, did it ever occur to you that perhaps these law-abiding folks chose to prepare for events that might never occur, but could? Now that your precious, politically-correct society and false security it spawns has completely broken down in New Orleans, do you still think them kooks? If you still do, YOU are the fool.
Remember, it is neither the mission nor prime responsibility of law enforcement to protect you when you are threatened with deadly force or harm -- they will respond when a crime has been committed, but by then you are dead. This fact has been upheld in the courts more times than you can count. So what do we do?
Following the collapse of the social order, there will inevitably be widespread crime and looting. Here's what Gun Trigger relates: Survivalists recommended keeping at least a month's supply of non-perishable food and water on hand, and more if possible; residents of New Orleans may not be able to return to their homes for the next 10 months, by some estimates.
They recommended having a rugged vehicle with spare fuel on hand, capable of going off-road if necessary. They recommended having an evacuation plan, with pre-packed bags of necessities that can be quickly loaded into the designated vehicle. And they recommended being armed, because desperate people will want to take what you have when the threat of police is removed -- and angry people will seize the excuse much sooner than that.
Suppose you were in New Orleans one day before Katrina hit. Would you have found those preparations useful? Might they even spare you harm or save your life? There are plenty of poor souls who, if they were still alive or before they were robbed and raped, who would shout out yes.
Think it can't happen where you live? It is happening in our 'Most European' of cities -- Think again. People who are not armed are helpless.
Oh, and for all of you extreme, Bolshevik, anti-gun radicals, your media lap dog allies, and clueless Kum Bay Yah-singing citizens, ponder this:
Right now in New Orleans, there are ordinary, law-abiding citizens on armed patrols of their property and their neighbors' property, preventing looting and worse within the reach of their patrols, in places where the police will not, or can not, go. They are militia. That's right -- The Second Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America Militia.
