A city destroyed
In my five decades of life I never witnessed the destruction of a major United States city -- until this week. Sure, Chicago was destroyed by fire, San Francisco by earthquake, Richmond and Atlanta by war, but none of those happened in my lifetime.
Those of you readers that have never experienced a major hurricane cannot imagine what it is like, nor can you imagine what our fellow citizens in New Orleans and on the Gulf Coast are going through right now, and for a long time to come. Please be generous and help our countrymen in their time of need, just as you did for tsunami relief and so many other disasters that we Americans never get credit for. This is for us; we don't need credit for helping because we are a great people blessed to live in the greatest country ever spawned by human civilization.
Oh yes, before I forget -- keep politics out of this. This disaster is so immense that it simply cannot be described. Don't cause any more harm like a certain political party, their minions, and media allies are doing. Be an American first...save politics for an election year.
