I hate hurricanes and they hate me

Great, just great. A tropical storm from out of nowhere. This stupid storm popped up in the Bahamas on Tuesday and will hit Florida in the wee hours Friday morning.

Will it strengthen? But of course. Will it affect South Florida? As sure as sheep have wool. Will it flood B2's house? Bet the ranch; I do, after all, live on the street that county employees refer to as "Canal Street." Forecasters predict strengthening on the 13th anniversary of Hurricane Andrew, the most expensive natural disaster in U.S. history.

The projected track for Tropical Storm Katrina, currently a bit more than 150 miles off the coast of Florida, takes it to Fort Lauderdale by Friday. But there is no track history and the damn thing can go anywhere. If the track holds, B2's hacienda can expect to be embraced with 8"-9" of rainfall to compliment already-soggy Palm City and the Water Management District's flooding and destruction of the St. Lucie River.

But hey, maybe it'll flush out all of the river's toxic algae! I can collect it all inside my house when it floods.
