Round, round get around, I get around

I've been busy preparing for the upcoming hurricane season and haven't had much time to write. I did, however, get a chance to mosey over to Little Martin's friendly courthouse to apply for an occupational license. Hooah! What a trip.

The license is for working out of my home after retirement sets in and involves firearms. I should have known better. Although I will not be selling firearms, I will be repairing them. Thus started my long, depressing, and dare I say frustrating bureaucratic journey. The very helpful clerk at the desk informed me that first, I must register my company-to-be with the State of Florida. No worries ... procedure sounds simple enough ... can even do so online. After I do that, I must then obtain my federal firearms license. Not a problem ... have my paperwork ready ... will submit to the BATF/E just as soon as I register my company-to-be.

Here's the snag: Waiting. All of this takes a great deal of time, and an even greater deal of money. The bad news is, I'm an impatient bastard. The good news is, once I have registered with the state and been approved by the BATF/E for my FFL, kindly Little Martin will gladly provide me with my occupational license, and for only a few bucks to boot.

I'm not really complaining about all this; it's just that I should have known how slowly the wheels of bureaucracy turn, seeing as how I myself am a bureau rat. My company was registered with the state today and upon returning from the Governor's Hurricane Conference, the BATF/E will get their pound of flesh. Several months from now, Ol' B2 will be in "bidness" - and it's damn near painless.
