Stalin would approve
Most people are unaware that in just a blink of an eye, more than three dozen lawsuits have been filed against gun manufacturers. Inane, insane, radical leftists seek to make firearms and ammunition unavailable to law-abiding Americans, putting gun manufacturers out of business, and punishing firearms distributors and retailers if they continue to sell firearms and ammunition.
This could and did happen in socialist-oriented Canada, Australia, and Britain, but certainly could never happen in the freedom-loving United States of America. Or could it? In the words of coach Lee Corso, "Not so fast, my friend." In the next few weeks the usual political suspects, all beholding to a host of socialist, vehemently anti-American groups, will introduce legislation in the United States Congress that will require American firearms makers to: Fund and implement a nationwide gun rationing and registration scheme; Maintain detailed records on each customer; and Provide these records to anti-gun politicians and lawers at any time. The kicker is that under the proposed laws, gun makers that refuse to spy on law-abiding citizens would automatically be liable for violent crimes committed by armed felons.
Now mind you, even if you don't own a firearm or enjoy shooting at the range, this sounds ominous, doesn't it? It should, because it is anathema to and another assault on our individual rights and those uniquely American principals we and generations past have fought and bled to maintain. Similar lawsuit legislation has been approved in "Blue State" cities, notably New York and Chicago, but even in those bastions of virulent liberalism only 16 percent of the population supports such laws, according to pollster John Zogby. Then how were they passed at the local levels? As usual, follow the money and the politicians. You can't be mayor without the support of the radical gangs.
Stop and think for a moment. All it takes is one renegade judge and a hand-picked jury to award a multi-billion dollar verdict against the gun industry. Inconceivable? It has already happened to other American industries. I have already contacted my congressional representatives and expressed my concern; perhaps you should do the same. Can't you just see Old Iron Josef smiling in his grave?
